The Impulse Electric Discharge in Subexcitation Regime (IEDSR) method is a machining technique that enables the creation of surface layers with unique properties that differ from the base material of the workpiece. This process offers many advantages over other machining methods, such as the formation of an intermediate layer, minimal formation of micro cracks on the processed surface, and the ability to work with a wide variety of materials. However, the low productivity of the process, high surface roughness, and lack of homogeneity make it an inefficient option. The paper describes a solution to overcome these limitations through the implementation of a multi-electrode system powered by an impulse generator and controlled by a programmable microcontroller with two stepper motors capable of executing up to 1800 micro-steps. This enhancement successfully eliminates the disadvantages of the IEDSR machining process. |
