Responsibility for violation of oath by public servants in Ukraine with subsequent comparison with the responsibility for violation of the oath in foreign countries has been analyzed. It was determined that taking the oath is an integral part of the procedure for holding public office both in Ukraine and in foreign countries. The promises proclaimed in the text of the oath are important because oaths from time immemorial have been considered something sacred, which for those who take them have a special meaning, a special moral duty to the person and to themselves. The «general» model of the tort aspect of the institute of oath in the official law of Ukraine was analyzed. It is legally established that a person who has violated the oath will be held accountable. Violation of the oath in Ukraine is a disciplinary offense for which a person is brought to disciplinary responsibility, and the type of disciplinary punishment for such misconduct is defined - dismissal.
