Background. Abruption of normally inserted placenta (ANIP) refers to placental detachment prior to birth of the fetus, a challenge for modern obstetrics. ANIP has a negative impact with a high level of maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality, presenting an incidence of 0.5-1.5% worldwide. Objective of the study. Highlighting the importance of the impact of ANIP on maternal and fetal health in the context of modern obstetrics. Material and Methods. Were used scientific publications and articles from medical databases: PubMed, Scopus, Medscape, Hindawi, published during 2017-2022. At the same time, electronic databases were used in English and Romanian. Results. The diagnosis of abruption of normally inserted placenta is made according to the maternal history, typical clinical manifestations with acute debut, localized pain, hypertonic uterus, vaginal bleeding, and paraclinical investigations. ANIP occupies second place of the uterus bleeding, constituting a range of 20-45%, and perinatal mortality rate varies between 20 and 67%, depending on gestational age, weight fetal and placental abruption. The usage of ultrasonography in prediction of maternal morbidity presents a sensitivity of 48-80% and argues for use of cesarean hysterectomy, but this surgery mutilates the woman and deprives of the possibility to have children. Conclusion. The usage of modern investigation techniques can help prevent maternal and neonatal consequences by diminishing morbidity and mortality. |
