Introduction: The modern medicine is very yang, it has about some hundreads years. It reached verysegnificant results in treatment of urgent states with the help of synthetic drogs. This way, in a relatively short period of time was created an impressive pharmaceutical industry, which sells immens amounts of drogs. Meantime if in the treatment of chronic diseases, the synthetic drog are used, besides positive results, a lot of undesirable effects can be observed. The last generations were „shoted” with a big variety of such drugs. Those method of tratment leaded to „an ecological disaster” in the body and leaded to different tipes of allergy and toxic reactions. According to medical literature, about 50% of diseases are iatrogenic. This way, in medicine appeared such concept as „drug – induced diseases”. Taking into consideration the high percentage of such pathological processe, the scientists and physicians started to study more intensive the folk medicine, which has less side effects. Also part of the last one is the Hirudotherapy. Medical leech has many positive effects on the human body. An the same time leeches don’t „contaminate” it with different sinthetic substances. This method of treatment is recommended in many cases of systemic diseases. The latest scientific researches prove that modern and folk medicine complement each other very well. Conclusion: we can certainly say that the treatment with leeches has a special role. This ancient method of therapy has an enormous potential not only in scientific point of view, but in applied medicine also. In our opinion, Hirudotherapy must take it’s deserved place in modern medicine and in republic of Moldova.
