In this work, the author, while enumerating all the related publications that have appeared since the 19th century, raises the question of insufficient research into the history of this important monument in the Nistru-Prut Interfl uve, a factor provoking the appearance of many different stories and legends about this monument in recent years. Taking into consideration the increased interest of the public to this impressive cave monastery and the foundation of the museum complex Ţipova-Saharna in conformity with the Decision of the Government of the Republic of Moldova 303 as of March 21, 2005, the author supports the proposal to implement the complex scientific research program in order to elucidate the authentic history of the monument as well as the idea of reinstating its historical name Horodişte.
