Bulgarian-Romanian’s saints (XIV – XVIII) in the Balkan’s cultural history. The epoca from the end of the 14th to the middle of 18th century is marked with the deep invasion of the Ottoman empire in south-east Europe. Unlike the Bulgarian, the Romanian people lived in two autonomous principalities- Wallachia and Moldova. Many Bulgarians were driven by the more liberal regime and the common orthodox Christianity to seek salvation north of Danube. The text presents these saints who had Bulgarian ethnicity, but their activities were concentrated on the Romanian estates. The text also concerns saints who are common for the history and the cultural memory for both of the nations. |
