“ASVAL” technique in the treatment of varicose veins: case series
Majority of surgical methods used for treatment of varicose veins include the ablation of
saphenous vein by means of endoluminal thermal or chemical obliteration or by means of
stripping. The ASVAL (Ablation Selective des Varices sous Anesthesie Locale) technique
represents a method of treatment of varicose veins with conservation of refluxing saphenous
trunk. Method is based on hemodynamic theory of “varicose reservoir” and ascending evolution
of disease. We present initial experience in application of ASVAL in patients with varicose veins
and various types of superficial venous reflux. Early results are encouraging and confirm the
effectiveness of method in well-selected cases. |
