The problem of conflict resolution and reconstruction of the world is one of the major problems of the modern world. In the context of conflicts development that threaten international peace and security, we can identify several steps associated with their emergence, maturation, open opposition party, interruption, management and resolution. The United Nations activities on the maintenance of international peace and reconstruction can take the following forms: conflict prevention, peacemaking, peacekeeping, peace enforcement and peace-building. Each phase of the conflict is characterized by one or other form of activity in favor of peace.
The peacekeeping operations is one of these forms. The author analyses practice of peacekeeping operations; researches the problems of peacebuilding as the one stage of peacemaking, international peacemaking contingents' tasks in this sphere; gives the examples of peace building missions; gives famous scientists' concepts as for the ways of solving certain problems during peace operations; studies United Nations Organization's the institutional and regulatory work in the area of peace building; studies the UN Peace building Commission's activity.
Relevance of the topic of the article is that peacebuilding is a process of global scale, which is based on issues of conflict resolution and thus recreation of the world. Peace-building has played a decisive role in the operations conducted by the UN in Cambodia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mozambique, Liberia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sierra Leone, just as in more recent operations in Kosovo and East Timor. |
