Rezumat

The study is dedicated to assessment of land ecological stability degree within water bodies situated in the limits of basins of the Camenca river, a tributary of the Prut river and of the Căinari river, a tributary of the Răut river located in the North Development Region of the Republic of Moldova. Within the mentioned basins, 12 and, respectively, 7 water bodies are delimited. General principles for evaluation of the ecological stability coefficient are based on land use assessment, regionalization and classification. According to the mapping of the predominant land use categories, made on the basis of current topographic maps and depending on the ratio between the weights of these categories, 5 types of water bodies were highlighted. In general, at present, the largest share of land is occupied by arable land, in second place being settlements, orchards, grassland, forests but with much smaller percentage. According to ecological stability coefficient evaluation, it was determined that there are no water bodies with medium stability and stable in the pilot basins. Most of the water bodies in the Camenca basin fall into the category of unstable ones, followed by those with uncertain stability, and those in the Căinari basin are very unstable followed by unstable ones. In order to raise the degree of ecological stability, it is necessary to increase the territory covered with natural vegetation, especially forests.
