Writing a story that emphasizes the limits of human nature which protagonist is always an anti-hero engaged in a search for ultimate meanings of existence, Kafka’s novels, like those
written by all major modern re-interpreters of the myths, such as - J. Joyce, Th. Mann, H. Hesse- are parables that build the frame of the human condition by appealing to a number of mythicarchetypal patterns. The fact that Kafka’s universe retains even nowadays its “symbolic pattern” is due to this “mytho-phoric” treatment which transforms the ordinary daily history of an absurd trial into a parable about human failure in the absolute. Multiplying the symbolic projections of the sacred world always perverted in relation to its original meaning: labyrinthine periplus), Kafka’s novels open up to a religious hermeneutics. This allows tracking the figure of a mundus imaginalis, significant not only in relation to the author’s personal myth, but also to the guiding myths of his time, beyond the stories told. |
