Rezumat

The military recruitment of Bessarabia indigenes and their mobilization was never, until present times, studied separately in special works. This topic is treated only in general studies. Russia didn’t do recruitment in the active Imperial army, excepting nobility, in the first years after Bessarabia’s annexation. From 1874, the moldovans will be taken into the Tsarist army, suffering ill treatment inside it. Attached to the military circumscriptions of Kiev (Hotin County) and Odessa (the remaining counties), Bessarabia had to recruit the necessary number of soldiers for the Imperial army. A great issue was mobilization of the region’s population, in order to participate in the armed actions of the Empire, the Russian-Romanian-Turkish War, the Russian-Japanese War, the Balkan War and World War I. In this war was included almost the whole Bessarabia’s population, as soldiers or participants in the compulsory work at fortifications’ or railroads’ construction.
