Background. Cerebellar tumors are the most common solid neoplasms in children. In the Republic of Moldova, their incidence is 1.54 per 100,000 children. Histologically, more common are: medulloblastoma 25-30%, astrocytoma 25%, ependymoma 15%. Most children are left with sequelae. Objective of the study. The aim of the study is to identify and evaluate neurological manifestations, including vegetative disorders in the late postoperative period in children operated on for cerebellar tumors. Material and Methods. In the prospective study, 36 children aged 7-18 years, operated for cerebellar tumors in 2014-2019, were examined clinically and neurophysiologically according to an evaluation protocol. The research criteria were neurological manifestations in the late postoperative period. Results. Out of 36 children with cerebellar tumors, the right hemisphere was affected in 10 children, the left in 15, and the vermis in 11. 23 children with moderate and severe motor deficit, 6 children with mild motor deficit, 7 children without motor deficit in the late postoperative period. Dysmetry, dysdiadocokinesis persist in all cases of left cerebellar hemisphere tumors. Affect dysregulation, deficit of emotional control and anxiety, panic attacks, aggression, manifest in all cases of vermis tumors, all children show vegetative disorders. The most common vegetative symptoms: bradycardia, orthostatic syncope, hypotension, asthenia, hyperhidrosis, flatulence, insomnia. Conclusion. Moderate and severe motor deficit, dysarthria, behavioral disorders, vegetative disorders are neurological manifestations in the late postoperative period in children operated on for cerebellar tumors. These negatively influenced the late postoperative recovery. |
