For the Republic of Moldova, the economic year 2020 started the same as the previous ones - with better expectations from the business environment, with generous promises from the authorities, but also with a series of chronic unresolved problems in the real sector of the economy. However, in just a few months since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the establishment of a state of emergency at national and international level, economic trends have changed their trajectory. Thus, the Chisinau Government had the mission to manage an unprecedented economic crisis, amplified by drought and political instability. The purpose of the investigation is to present the evolution of the banking system of the Republic of Moldova by analyzing some indicators that characterize this sector with the subsequent elaboration of some conclusions regarding the research.
