Soil erosion means the process of soil degradation as a result of soil detachment, transport, and deposition of soil particles under the action of water and wind. Natural or normal (geological) erosion is the erosion over a long period of time all over the surface of the Earth, except for the influence of man. This type of erosion is caused by the current general conformation of the Earth.Anthropogenic (accelerated) erosion is entirely attributed to human activity, consisting of the unreasonable use of soil. It has a much-increased intensity rate compared to natural erosion and its consequences are rapid and of great proportions. The current eroded areas are the result of a long process that began with the clearing of forests and pastures, the practice of rudimentary agriculture and continues to this day due to the numerous mistakes and negligence in the system of work and exploitation of soils. It is worth noting that accelerated erosion is not an irreplaceable, inevitable process, but can and must be stopped, interrupted, and fertility of the respective soils restored and improved. Depending on the factors that cause it, water erosion (rain or water erosion) and wind erosion (wind erosion or defloration) are differentiated. Depending on the causes (natural or anthropogenic) that determine the process, erosion is natural (geological) and anthropogenic (accelerated). |
