The purpose of the investigations was to identify the peculiarities of the photosystem II (FSII) and catalase activities of Buxus sempervirens L. leaves depending on their exposure to the action of heat shock (HS) and recovery of the activities during the subsequent period. The functional characteristics of photosynthetic apparatus, inclusive quantum photosynthetic Yield of PSII have been related to catalase activity of leaves exposed to HS. The results show, that during the action of HS buxus leaves suffered from photo inhibitory stress expressed into low value of maximum quantum efficiency of FS II. Comparative analysis has shown that leaves exposed to HS have an effective photo protective mechanism against HS consequences and efficiently use both effective quantum photosynthetic yield of PSII and catalase activity to annihilate excess of the H2O2, produced during HS influence. |
