Background. The slow deep breathing provides autonomic and analgesic effects. Objective of the study. Study of recent data on the mechanisms of the action of deep slow breathing Material and Methods. Study of articles included in the PubMed database for the last 10 years regarding the vegetative and analgesic effects of deep slow breathing. Results. The slow deep breathing increases respiratory heart rate variability – the respiratory sinus arrhythmia (RSA). Central and peripheral mechanisms are involved in RSA. Impulses are transmitted from the respiratory neurons to the cardiovagal neurons of the nucleus ambiguus. The afferent signals from stretch receptors of lungs and baroreceptors of vessels also increase RSA. This cardiorespiratory coupling seems to decrease the limbic areas activity and improves interaction between frontal and limbic structures. The endogen pain suppression system is also activated. Conclusion. Slow deep breathing provides complex effect – the analgesic effect is associated with increase of RSA, decrease of sympathetic arousal and activation of pain suppression system. |

Concluzii. Respirația profundă lentă oferă un efect complex – efectul analgezic este asociat cu creșterea ARS, scăderea excitării simpatice și activarea sistemului de suprimare a durerii.</p></dc:description> <dc:source>Cercetarea în biomedicină și sănătate: calitate, excelență și performanță () 31-31</dc:source> <dc:subject>Slow Deep breathing</dc:subject> <dc:subject>Respiratory Sinus Arrhythmia</dc:subject> <dc:subject>Pain suppression</dc:subject> <dc:subject>Respirație profundă lentă</dc:subject> <dc:subject>aritmie respiratorie</dc:subject> <dc:subject>supresia durerii</dc:subject> <dc:title>Autonomic and analgesic effects of slow deep breathing</dc:title> <dc:type>info:eu-repo/semantics/article</dc:type> </oai_dc:dc>
