Freedom of expression in the media is essential to any democracy. It remains an imperative for both: states with democratic traditions for centuries, and for those in transition to the democracy. Although there are some general covered legal and ethical limits of freedom of expression, however, the specifics of each society, culture of freedom put their mark on their forms of manifestation. Censorship and self-censorship continues to cause both theoretical and practical debates among journalists, but also civil society. The Republic of Moldova is emblematic, considerings the difficult route to the real meaning of freedom of expression in the media. |
