Rezumat

Small and medium enterprises have a major role in the economy of the EU countries by contributing significantly to the economic growth and to the creation of jobs. However, the survival and development of these companies is conditioned by providing easy access to financing, especially on bank credits, which is the most important resource for external financing of these companies. Small and medium enterprises are facing many difficulties in dealing with banks, their knowledge being of vital importance in light of the need to adopt measures to support and improve access to finance. Moreover, in the context of the current global crisis, access to bank credits of these companies was significantly deteriorated due to lower availability of bank credits. In this context, our paper aims to highlight the major issues faced by small and medium enterprises in UE28 countries on the line of access to bank credits, the extremely serious implications of the current global crisis on the availability of bank credits, as well as the measures adopted by the decision makers at European and national level to support access to bank financing of this sector in order to exit from the crisis and relaunch the European economy.
