This learning type begins to be used like a modern strategy after 1970, with the certified experience in the Medical School of McMaster University, Canada. Problem based learning is a system of curriculum’s developing and of training’s organizing that develops in both the strategies of the solving of the strategies as well as disciplinary knowledge bases. The pupils are placed in an active role of “problems solvers”, they usually faced with a problem that reflects poorly structured real issues of day life. Largely reflecting the normal operation mode of thinking, problem based learning aims to bring the students for identifying the situation and to find solutions for the contextual problems, using previous acquisitions of learning and analysis and synthesis capabilities. This kind of learning activities give a proactive and creative guidance, turning problems into opportunities and providing alternative solutions. The relevance of the tasks are the main advantage of this teaching method, if we notice that the success in learning depends largely on their cognitive processes which are strongly influenced by the type of the task is placed in front of the learner. Problematical situation occurs due to intellectual conflict that appears and knows, between what is familiar and what he/she is knowing in a particular issue. Due to the relative incompleteness of knowledge and the necessity of acquiring new knowledge in a certain field. |
