The regional development policy is one of the most important and most complex policies of the European Union and it persists a broad spectrum of implementation tools for the member states, candidate and neighboring countries as well. For the Republic of Moldova, the regional development policy of the European Union represents a growth opportunity both at micro as well as macroeconomic levels of regions in the country, given the fact that the support accorded to the regions is carried out through regional development programs. The DR model selected for Moldova is one that offers local public administration the opportunity to cooperate within the region and to plan the strategic interventions in order to support the regional development, which will be funded, under specific conditions, from the state budget, so we conclude that the regional development and decentralization policies are interrelated.
