The main goal of the present research is to investigate a range of gender life practices, models and values from the past in Moldova. The gender realities from the past are marked by masculine domination (masters of the world, which are mainly concerned by the struggle for power, control and justice ethics) and female subordinacy (“tacit majority”, invisible in public life; its existence and role in the society is related to domestic life and care ethics). Deviation to the norm and alternative life practices has been rarely manifested through individual attitude and behavior, mostly shown by females, and seldom – by males. Knowledge of the facts and social phenomena described in spiritual folk art from the past, is being relevant provided the fact that it can be found at the level of modern norms and models, which comprise of life practices and values originating from patriarchal culture.
