Background. The global population tends to age, and considering the fact that the frequency of anesthetic processes increases with age, their incidence is 30% in the elderly over 75 years compared to 9% in people aged 35-44 years, it is necessary to determine the influence of old age on perioperative risk. Objective of the study. To determine the influence of old age, as an individual risk factor, on the estimation of perioperative risk by ASA PS classification. Material and Methods. Retrospective analysis of 324 medical records of patients with chronic joint disease or femoral fracture, through correlational analysis, linear regression, tabular-graphical representation, all results were processed in the IBM Statistics program. The registered parameters were age, ASA PS class, number of chronic diseases, sex, total bed days. Results. Pearson correlation coefficient r = 0.006, with a significance level p = 0.92, represents a zero correlation between the variables Age and the ASA PS classification. Linear regression analysis shows negative result. The incidence of chronic diseases depending on the age group (65-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-98 years), is relatively homogeneous, with 1.6 concomitant diseases per group. Conclusion. The results of the research show that age as an individual risk factor in the classification of ASA PS, is practically devoid of influence, which corresponds to data from contemporary literature. |
