Background. Coral nephrolithiasis and chronic calculous pyelonephritis have an important medical and social impact on quality of life and professional or extra-professional performance. Objective of the study. The study aims to evaluate Oxidative Stress in patients with coralliform lithiasis and chronic calculus pyelonephritis, both in terms of oxidative aggression and antioxidant capacity. Material and Methods. The research was carried on 100 patients. Serum levels of superoxidesmutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPO), reactive oxygen metabolites (ROM), advanced glycation end products (AGE), advanced oxidation protein products (AOPP), and antioxidant capacity, illustrated by the ability, total antioxidant capacity (TAC), were evaluated. Results. The levels of SOD, GPO, ROM, AGE increased in patients with coralliform nephrolithiasis (SOD 1.401.99-1.800.59 u/c, , MRO-15.70-18.89 u/c, AGE 1.459.08-1.165.15mg/ml, PPOA 169.31-180.20μm/l) as well as TAC 62.85-59.07 nm/s.l , TA (46.06-51.54 u/c, A 20.40-22.75u/c ) and calcular pyelonephritis (SOD 1.167.16-1.032.16 u/c, MRO11.93-18.03 u/c, AGE 700.35-1.065.39mg/ml, PPOA 119.35-142.20μm/l) as well as TAC levels 42.2844.73 nm/s.l , TA (44.88-50.97 u/c, A 18.84-19.91 u/c), compared to the control group (SOD 1.026826.98u/c, GPO-3.73-4,76 μm/l, MRO-5.96-9.44u/c, AGE 312.08-678.28mg/ml, PPOA 30.31-67.37 μm/l) as well as TAC levels 13,78-22.84 nm/s.l. Conclusion. The levels of SOD, ROM, AGE, AOPP in patients with coralliform nephrolithiasis are more pronounced compared to patients with calculus pyelonephritis and there is an insignificant decrease in GPO compared to the control group. |
