A fundamental component în the port and maritime shipping industries are the hinterland. The hinterland is the land or district behind a coast or the shoreline of a river. Hinterland connections of the port are the collection of infrastructure enabling products to be transported to and from the port. The competitiveness of a port is determined to a large extent by the hinterland connections. Hinterland connections are a very important factor of economic development of every maritime country. |
