Introducere. Introduction. Currently the strains of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) are a serious problem in medicine. It is recognized as one of the most common causes of nosocomial infections. In the Republic of Moldova the true incidence of septic-purulent nosocomial infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (MRS) is not known. |

Introduction. In the Republic of Moldova the true incidence of septic-purulent nosocomial infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus (MRS) is not known.
Objective of the study. To determine the incidence of septic-purulent nosocomial infections caused by MRS in Moldova. Material and methods. The study included the results of bacteriological investigations of patients with septic-purulent nosocomial infections caused by MRS, from 2014 to 2017. Isolation of staphylococcal strains and determination of methicillin-resistance (resistance to oxacillin) was carried out both by the classical method and the automated system VITEK 2 Compact (bioMerieux). Results. Of the total number of staphylococcus isolated from patients with nosocomial infections and tested to oxacillin sensitivity/resistance, 36.32% were MRS, including S. aureus in 19.43%, S. hominis in 94.44%, S. epidermidis in 61.34%, S. saprophyticus in 51.54%, and S. haemolyticus in 48.71% of cases. Conclusion. The results of the study show that the share of MRS strains is 36.32%. Although, coagulase-positive staphylococci are frequently found in patiens with septic-purulent infections, the degree of resistance to oxacillin (methicillin) is much lower compared to the species of coagulase-negative staphylococci.

</descriptions> <formats> <format>application/pdf</format> </formats> </resource>
