The article examines the impact of globalization on the socio-economic development of rural communities. The essence of the globalization process and its manifestation in the life of the villagers are analyzed. Globalization is a controversial phenomenon that makes it possible to accelerate development, but on the other hand, can cause a deterioration in the situation in rural communities of the lagging countries of the world. For the most successful inclusion in globalization processes, it is recommended to develop sustainable development strategies for rural communities, comprehensive support for the development of small businesses in the countryside.
