The article contains the first approach to the entire vision of the process of Holocaust victims’ commemoration in Moldova since 1945 till nowadays. The topic of the Holocaust in the public space in Moldova sounds louder and louder. Understanding the Holocaust in various ways, from statistics to private life stories, from collaboration to acts of rescue by the Righteous among the Nations, is gradually becoming an increasingly important and widespread public agenda. What has been the “internal business” of the Jews for many years, and has been happening at the state level mainly as a result of the pan-European trend and the “roadmap” of the IHRA, is turning into an important aspect of Moldova’s public life. This move is literally happening before our eyes: more and more journalists and public figures are addressing this issue outside the “mandatory program” related to January 27 and in much broader contexts. |
