This article analyzes Moldova’s relations with the Ecumenical Patriarchate (end of the 14th century – the middle of the 17th century). After recognition of the Moldovan Metropolitan establishment, by the Patriarchate of Constantinople (July 26, 1401), the Moldovan Orthodox Church has enjoyed a certain independence from it.
