| Rezumat | ||||||
The survey sample consisted of 163 pregnant women with HIV infection (stage A and stage B) and their newborns, of whom 130 benefited from prophylactic ARV treatment, while 33 pregnant women and their newborns did not. As a result of ARV therapy perinatal transmission of HIV infection occurred in only two (1.54%) newborns out of 130. Of the 33 pregnant women who did not benefit from ARV prophylactic treatment HIV was transmitted from the mothers to 14 children (42.4%). |
