Rezumat

In 1999-2001 period in Romania has been implemented the European project ‘European Policies and Plant Conservation’. This TEMPUS-Phare Project was focused on the alignment of Romanian botanic gardens to European standards by their conceptual and organizational improvement assistance. One of the main aims of the project was also the setting up of a national network of botanic gardens, target realized by the creation in 2000 of the Romania Botanic Gardens Association. This is a non-governmental, non-political and non-profi t structure supporting the activity of these institutions and promoting them at national and international levels. In the 10 years of its existence, this organization has been made itself very well known on international level by becoming an active member in the board of two prestigious international organizations: International Organization for Botanic Gardens Conservation and Planta Europa.
