Rezumat

For the Romanian agriculture, the transition from command economy to market economy has generated a number of structural imbalances, such as: a significant surplus of labour resources and lack of alternative jobs; a dual structure of ownership and exploitation;  excessive fragmentation of agricultural land; low technical procurement, etc.. This imbalance reduces the efficiency and performance of the agricultural sector in general.  From all these aspects, the two dimensions of the fragmentation process – the small size of the holdings and the large number of parcels per holding - are seen as major obstacles for the introduction of technical progress in the Romanian agriculture and will represent the subject of this study.
