Rezumat

 In modern sense, the speech sound disorder in children implies the presence of problems on phonologic processing level. In other words, the child does not fully use the entire hearing capacity to process information from environment. On the other hand, a series of studies revealed that speech sound disorders in children are maintained by the working memory deficits. The working memory mechanisms showing deficit influence performance in the use of oral language. The phonologic deficits are also linked to storing and updating phonologic information in memory. A specific intervention, aimed to correct the speech sound disorders should be based both on identifying deficits of phonologic processing and deficits of working memory, in order to propose distinct exercises to train these skills.
