Four profiles of soil, ordinary chernozem subjected to erosion processess, distributed in the Negrea village, in the catchment basin of Lapusna river (Republic of Moldova) were analyzed in the present study. The aim of the research was to evaluate the changes produced in soil chemical properties under the influence of erosion: pH, content of humus, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and carbonates and their distribution on soil profile. The reaction (pH) of not eroded and often of weakly eroded soil, is neutral with values ranging from 6.97.2 and slightly alkaline for the Bh2, BC and C horizons. Moderate and heavily eroded soils are characterized by a slightly alkaline reaction at the surface. The highest humus losses were in the 0-30 layers and its content vary from 3,1-3,7 % in the not eroded and weakly eroded soils, characterized as moderately humiferous, to 2.4-2.7% of humus in the heavily eroded soil, characterized as poorly humiferous. Also, the content of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium significantly decreases with increasing erosion level. The quantity of carbonates increases from 2-3,9% g/g (weak and moderately eroded soils) to 20% g/g (heavily eroded soil) in the layer of 30 cm. Increased amount of carbonates and reduced content of phosphorus, nitrogen and humus directly affect the growth and development of plants. For obtaining adequate yields on eroded soils, it is necessary to focus soil improvement works firstly to enhance the chemical properties and then others. |
