Rezumat

The foremost tendencies across international and national education policies are unrestricted access to information and lower education costs. The use of web resources engages students in a variety of tasks to enhance their language skills and knowledge within specific areas, as well as give students the opportunity to practice authentic (native) language within classroom settings. The use of authentic online materials can provide active student participation, higher voluntary attention, motivation and interest, quality homework, etc. The use of authentic materials in the process of teaching and learning Medical English is undoubtedly important for the development of good professional communication skills, since these are vital for future physicians, and can lead to better patient care and safer health care delivery. Thus, authentic video materials are useful sources to meet the demands of both teachers (interactive lessons that ensure authenticity to the lessons) and future specialists (job-related activities, real-world exploration, positive attitude, self-efficacy and learner autonomy etc). However, videos should be carefully selected and used in appropriate doses, whereas their exploitation should be thoroughly considered.
