The public spectacle in the contemporary era fulfills a good part of the life of the human community. However, we cannot meet the same thing in the modern period and the beginning of modernity, when the life of the individual takes place essentially on the inside, unfolding and evolving in the “family show”. In this situation, the maintenance of public life takes place through actors such as the Institution of Power, the local tradition, and last but not least by the Church. Even more, the Church, through its complicated construct of religious life, has the role of main actor. Obviously, it is impossible to fully capture the actions of the Church in order to organize this public show. For these reasons, we focused our attention on a single case, which is the top of the pyramid of public-religious presentation, the celebration of the patron saint of Neamț Monastery. |
