Rezumat

The topic approached falls within the theory of translatability/untranslatability, which has led to multiple discussions. Specialists are trying to find solutions to reduce the difficulty of translating from one language to another the ―untranslatable‖ terms, to diminish, that is, the distance that opens where there is no identical correspondent, or where the translation seems impossible because of "language gaps". The paper will analyze the strategies and techniques of cultural mediation applied in the case of the Romanian translation of the novel ―The Master and Margarita‖ by Mihail Bulgakov, involving solving the problems of equivalence through the prism of cultural identity.
