The article describes the results of a study aimed to investigate the relationship between the sexual awareness and psychological wellbeing, a concept intensely investigated within the frame of positive psychology paradigm. We expected to find significant differences between man and women on the personality tendencies associated with the sexual awareness and sexual assertiveness, as well as a variation of these tendencies depending upon the participants’ marital status and age. We also presupposed that the sexual awareness will positively correlate with psychological wellbeing. Participants, 45 subjects, 38 women and 7 men, aged from 19 to 45 and of different marital status, completed the Sexual Awareness Questionnaire –SAQ (William Snell, Terri Fisher și Rowland Miller (1991)), which measures four personality tendencies associated with sexual awareness and sexual assertiveness: (a) sexual consciousness; (b) sexual preoccupation, (c) sexual monitoring, and d) sexual assertiveness. They also completed the Psychological Wellbeing Questionnaire (Svetlana Rusnac (2017)). Results show no significant differences between men and women on all four components of sexual awareness, though significant differences were registered on sexual monitoring depending on the age, thus younger people demonstrating higher scores. Married persons scored higher on sexual assertiveness in contrast to unmarried and divorced, who registered higher scores on sexual monitoring. The sexual awareness was not identifies as a significant factor of psychological wellbeing on such aspects as the Self-Acceptance and the Feeling of Happiness.
