This article treats the theme of "Parents and Children" from the perspective of the literary comparativism in Marin Preda’s prose and in the novel "Zeno's Consciousness" by the Italian prose writer Italo Svevo. The possible literary dialogue that the Romanian writer proposes involves a series of ethical-existential aspects: consciousness, acceptance and maintenance of ancestral code, the Oedipus complex, creation, death. The possible influences that the adventure of Cosimo's consciousness had on the author of Morometes could be found in several writings: The Morometes, Life as a Prey, The Intruder, The Most Beloved of Earthlings. Even though the considerations set out in the article should be viewed only as critical assumptions, the proposed comparative exercise is useful for studying this recurrent theme in universal literature, that of the relationship between father and son.
