Rezumat

Integrated Pest Management was developed in response to pest resistance to pesticides (insects, pathogens of plant diseases, weeds), emergence of secondary pests when pesticides disrupt beneficial organisms, impact of pesticides on beneficial organisms and non-target species, environmental concerns stemming from misuse of pesticides, economic incentives (improve yields, lower pest control costs). The article contains the main elements of philosophy of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), as following: multidisciplinary science, practiced in context with other crop production techniques, a holistic to pest management, preventive strategies over prescriptive tactics, long term management over short term control, target key pests with non-disruptive solutions, monitoring, decision making, control tactics, and evaluation, using of biologic control agents.
