Rezumat

Nowadays there are a lot of challenges one has to face: there are bad things such as alcohol, drug abuse, violence and so on… and on the other hand, there are good things such as many career opportunities, technological progress, many offers for each taste in almost every field… another aspect of our contemporary world is the abundance of information. We receive a great flux of information, but as the specialists say: „there is not more info, but more channels of informing.  I consider highly important for a teenager, a pupil to develop his/her skills in every area but also in the communicational field. I believe one can adjust properly if he/ she develop a critical sense. In order for this to happen, we as teachers must help them develop not only school skills but also skills necessary in life… so that a pupil could be able to integrate in the professional life, in his communities, in society in general. The art of communicating becomes more and more important each day. We have to be prepared to receive and well understand the messages a person or an institution delivers us. As it is said in books of communication, there is an agenda setting… which refers to the fact that media doesn’t tell us how to think, but they tell us what to think of, they propose an agenda which is very often accepted without any question by the audience. A pupil’s personality involves components such as biological features and features caused by environmental issues. As we know, personality is composed of temperament, character and aptitudes. This whole „thing” called personality is a result of what we are hereditary and of what the environment makes of us, of how it transforms us but still… we must not forget our own contribution to all these and the role and impact education has upon us. So, we are a mix of contributions, but we are responsible for what we decide to make with the factors that influence our lives. The educator’s role in this „ecuation” is to help the youngsters prepare for life both theoretical field and in matters of life decisions. We must help pupil discover the world they live in and decide what suits them best, without letting themselves manipulated. Manipulation can be intended, with purpose or unintended, but both ways pupils and people in general have to be free of this negative factor which can occur in our lives if we are not critical and self-critical enough to distinguish right from wrong. One method of seeing right from wrong is developing our minds, ourselves through knowledge, through education, reading and making our mind busy with good „stuff”. In order not to be overwhelmed with information, one must have an insight of communicational skills and this should represent a goal for us, educators. As Carl Jung said „we are responsible of what we choose to make of ourselves with our given life.”
