This article presents a bibliographic study on addiction. Is addiction a disease, a personality disorder or a learned behavior? There are researchers, such as Mark Lewis, emeritus professor at the University of Toronto, who believe that addiction is a learned behavior and a „social problem with disastrous medical consequences”. In contrast, WHO states that addiction is a disease that needs treatment since 1964. The National Institute for the Study of Substance Abuse (NIDA-USA), which funds over 90% of all addiction studies in the world, considers addiction to be a disease, which gives it a lot of credibility, and patients are told that they are suffering from a chronic disease so as not to be stigmatized. Franz Rupert includes this problem in the primary traumas, due to the withdrawal of the maternal condition, its lack, the physical and emotional abandonment by the mother, or other physical and emotional abuse suffered by the child. |
