In its historical evolution, Romanian has come into contact with different languages, from which it has very easily assimilated many words with the requirements of communication. The strongest influence on the Romanian language in the 21st century has English. Today, English is a true international linguistic invasion. The invasion of Anglicisms has grown in line with the progress of certain areas of technology and the spread of the cinema industry. Most of the borrowed words were modeled according to the phonetic and morphological system of the Romanian language. All the words borrowed from the other languages have caused changes in the phonetic, grammatical and lexical structure of the Romanian language, each foreign influence being visible through its features through the personal brand. The great avalanche of English words is justified mainly by the need to use specialized terms that do not have equivalent in Romanian. These are so called „necessary loans” that mean those words, or phrases that do not have a Romanian correspondent or that have certain advantages over the native term. Luxury anglicisms are unnecessary loans, which are in line with the subjective tendency of some social categories to linguistically individualize in this way. Such terms repeat only the Romanian words without additional information.
