Rezumat

N,N’-bis(2-hydroxy-3,5-dimethyl)-N,N’-dimethyl-1,2-ethanediamine(H2hdde) is an interesting tetradentate ligand with an N2O2donor set, affording oligonuclear systems such as [Mn3(Hdde)2(CH3COO)2(CH3O)2][1], [Ni4(hdde)2(CH3COO)4] [2], [Ni6(hdde)3(OH)4(NO3)2(H2O)2][2], and [Ni7(hdde)3(OH)6(dmac)3](ClO4)2(dmac = N,N’dimethylacetamide) [3] complexes. This might be due to the non-planar geometry of the H2hdde ligand [4]. There have been considerable interests incobalt complexes, because cobalt ion becomes paramagnetic and diamagnetic properties depending on the oxidation state. In this study, we studied synthesis of cobalt complexes with H2hdde ligand. The isolated complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV-Vis spectra, and single-crystal X-ray structure analysis, elucidating the chemical formula of[Co3(hdde)2(CH3COO)2(OH)2] as shown in Figure. We report here the synthesis, crystal structures, and magnetic properties of these mixed-valent CoIICoIIIcomplexes together with other complexes.
