Rezumat

The present article is referring to some general notions about the concept of francophony in general and about francophone literature, or, more precisely, francophone literatures, seen as ensembles of literary texts that reflect the country or region’s identity expressed in French language and having a certain connection to the French norm. It approaches the Belgian literary discourse expressed in French and its singularity, by a brief analyse of its founding literary text, La Légende d’Ulenspiegel by Charles De Coster. Other writers are also mentioned, more contemporary ones, along with currents such as symbolism and surrealism, and world-known representatives of the fantastic prose, of the baroque and expressionist theatre and of a modern poetry that stems directly from the roots of the symbolists and surrealists Belgian forerunners. (Michel de Ghelderode, René Kalisky, Paul Willems, Jean-Claude Pirotte or Marc Quaghebeur). The article aims at analysing some complementary aspects of the French literary discourse and the Belgian one expressed in French and also some traits that define the singularity of each of those discourses.
