Professor, Ph.D. Oprescu A. was born on the 5th of March 1912 in the village Baluseni, district Botosani, Suceava region. He attended primary school in the village and then in the town of Baluseni and Botosani. Between 1923 and 1930, he studied at the Lyceum “A. T. Laurian” from Botosani. He was enrolled at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, where he studied between 1931 and 1936. As a veterinarian, he held several positions in the army and then as a civilian. He was part of the Government team which founded the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in Arad, where he worked as Professor of Parasitology and Dean of the newly established faculty; Professor of Parasitology at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, the transfer service (30.11.1950-26.11.1952); Rector of the Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest (01.12.1950-December 1951). For political reasons, with the involvement of "good fellow" he was kicked out of the higher education and sent as Head of the laboratory of Parasitology from the Regional Veterinary Laboratory of Botosani, Suceava region. The scientific researches and publications of Oprescu A. were made in pathology of veterinary medicine and especially in veterinary parasitology. These are original researches that have been published in a number of more than 70 scientific articles, excluding the articles from the General Magazine and dissemination of information. After his retirement and because of his sickness, on the 1st of October, 1967, Prof. Ph.D. Oprescu A. moved to live in Iasi. Because of the heart disease, he died in his hospital bed, in his sleep, on the 5th of November 1971, and was buried in the Eternity cemetery.
