Rezumat

An original technology and the pilot-scale production of microporous filters made from powder polyethylene was developed and applied at the JSC “Karpov Institute of Physical Chemistry”. Filters are manufactured in the form of cylindrical tubes with the thickness of filter membranes of 5 - 15 mm. Filter elements are used for purification of technical solutions, paints and resins, magnetic varnishes, photographic emulsions, lubricating and cooling liquids, chemicals, galvanic mud, drilling fluids, process gases, and also as highly effective air dispersers. The Ministry of Healthcare of the Russian Federation has authorized to use these filters for fine purification of potable water, juices, alcoholic and soft drinks and of other food products. Technical characteristics of the microporous filtering elements based on polyethylene powder, determined in the process of investigation, are given in the Table below. A mobile microfiltration installation with the proposed filter elements for purification of different process fluids has been developed jointly with the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. The installation design allows fast regeneration of the filter cartridge, using countercurrent, without disassembling. The unit is equipped with control and measuring devices, it can operate under computer control too. The Russian Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) has issued a positive decision № 2013150726/05 (079076) as of 21.04.2014 to grant the patent for the utility model "Installation for microfiltration of process fluids". The performance tests of the installation are being carried out.
