Rezumat

We report hardness and elastic modulus of MgB2 and RuSr2HoCu2O8 superconductors. The nanoindentation hardness and elastic modulus values samples were measured in the peak load range from 10 to 400 mN. Hardness and elastic modulus were determined as 2.3 GPa for MgB2 and 3.2 GPa for RuSr2HoCu2O8. The experimental results for both MgB2 and RuSr2HoCu2O8 revealed a peak-load- dependence, i.e., indentation size effect (ISE). This ISE behavior was then analyzed using the Meyer‘s law, Kick law, Hays-Kendall model, the proportional specimen resistance (PSR) model, the elastic recovery model, and the modified PSR model to calculate the elastic modulus and true hardness values for each material. Also, no cracking was obtained during the present experimental work.
