Climate conditions and anthropogenic impact severily affected the Dniester river, during the last 50 years reducing the water level to the lowest possible degree. On the lower Dniester, the main flow was formed from the input of the tributaries and the underground waters and not the mountainous water in the lower sector of the river. This caused the change in water quality from the second type (CCa II) to the third type (CCa III) and to the magnesium group (CMg II). The Dniester River in Soroca became an area of environmental disaster (V grade) and Varniţa-Palanca sector - an area of high environmental risk in the summer season. The ratio of N: P: C is far from the optimal value (1: 7: 40) and indicates a continuous pollution input wiThorganic substances. Also, the extremely low biodegradation coefficient (self-purification), the increased biochemical oxygen demand (CBO5) and chemical oxygen demand (CCOCr), due to the high bacterial destruction during the summer period, reveal the imbalance of the production-destructive processes and the intense organic pollution (IV-VrThquality class). |
