Rezumat

Connected economy has already led to significant changes in the global marketplace. Hyperconnectivity and the virtual world have introduced new requirement for organizational development - enterprise intelligence. Authors are focusing on the concept’s evolution, starting with fundamentals and addressing new principles, which were derived from the quickly developing networked economy. The fundamentals of enterprise intelligence consist of abilities to gather and use information from both inside and outside the enterprise, to sort and extract the most relevant aspects of information and to align information with business objectives. In a connected economy intelligent enterprises have turned to proactive practices that include analytical-minded behavior, which increase their business intelligence. Today, work in a connected economy and in an intelligence enterprise environment undergoes cultural transformations. The imperatives of a connected economy require to establish a new set of employees and CEO characteristics including professional expertise associated with data-oriented culture, which in turn is strongly associated with new information technologies, connectivity, new means of information interaction and social media. Enterprise virtuality means openness and thus demands intensified attention to information security - intelligent enterprises work with a large amount of data. An intelligent enterprise is a self learning organization where the employees constantly expand their skills helping them to achieve desired goals, where new ways of thinking are applied, where learning is developed under the influence of internal and external environments.
