Rezumat

Modern science gives priority to the use of medicinal and aromatic plants in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic industry, etc.the relevance of the study lies in the appreciation of production indices in some varieties and provenance of the species Mentha piperita L. from different geographical areas in the current ecological conditions. The valuable composition of mint and especially the essential oil offers new possibilities for use along with the traditional ones. Over the years, genotypes with different precocity and a relevant biological and production potential in the pedoclimatic conditions of our country have been selected and adapted. Research has included the determination of herba production, content, production and yield of volatile oil. Among the varieties studied at the value indices was highlighted Simferopol – 200, with a production of herba 6.06 t/ha, leaves 1.4 t/ha, and volatile oil production-35.7 and 30.4 kg/ha, respectively. The USIGEN variety, created at IGFPP, achieved 31.8 and 27.9 kg/ha oil in herba and leaves and recorded a high essential oil content.(1,083 and 3,003%). The native variety Nistru-310 was established with the highest oil content 1.167 /3.278% and accumulated 30.1 kg/ha essential oil at a production of herba 3.64 t/ha. The essential oil content was also noted Prilukskaya-6 and accumulated 3.112%. Among the sources studied in the reference years, Mitcham from the USA stood out with a production of 27.7 and Egypt 24.6 kg/ha essential oil, at a production of herba 4.79 and 4.34 t/ha, respectively. Tavria recorded values exceeding 3% for the oil content in the leaves. Mint genotypes from different geographical areas have adapted to the pedoclimatic conditions of the Republic of Moldova and have realized a positive biological and production potential.
